Mastering gRPC for Network Management, Monitoring and Automation
15.11.2026 , Workshop Room #7#

In this workshop session, we will explore how the high-performance protocol gRPC can be used to interact with a modern network OS: monitoring, configuration, operations, and even beyond!

Content

The workshop will touch on what gRPC is, and which gRPC services are available for managing networks. We will try out the full suite of gNxI protocols using open source tools, namely:
- gNMI: used for network management and monitoring
- gNOI: for operational tasks, like image upgrades and reboots
- gNSI: security-related tasks, e.g. gRPC access policy and certificate rotation
- gRIBI: manipulating the RIB programmatically, injecting routes on-demand

Prerequisites

We will be providing participants with a VM pre-loaded with all necessary tools and network topology.

No previous programming or gRPC experience required for this beginner-friendly workshop!

What should participants bring to the workshop?:

An SSH client and a browser. Optionally, VS Code or similar IDEs capable of remote connection for an easier workflow.
