DENOG18

OT/IoT Networking Meetup
2026-11-16 –, WG Room 901

At recent DENOG Meetups a small group of people working in OT-Networking, -Ops and -security found each other and started talking. We want to continue the exchange of ideas, experiences, advise and discussions of OT specific topics at DENOG18. Let's get to know each other and build a community around this ever growing topic.

The OT and IT worlds are growing closer and the line between these fields is getting more blured. What are the differences? Which issues do we face when IT people encounter electricians and their systems. Devices in our networks that were last patched 15 years ago? How do we deal with systems offering a 10 Mbit/s "Ethernet" interface at most?

We want to build a community to discuss such topics.
- How do we build networks, where the hardware is old and very insecure?
- How do we deal with an environment where the bandwidth is low and the casualties may be high?
- How can we improve the security of our OT networks without impacting their reliability?

We'd love to hear your (horror) stories, thoughts, ideas and problems.
We hope that this meeting will be the start of a mailing list or a working group at DENOG.

OT Security by day - Networking fun (as AS216351) at night.

Lara (aka error) works in OT Security and likes to build networks for conferences. You might have seen her before talking about MACsec.
